In the last few years the food and grocery industry has becoming more popular in online. Most of the people using online to order food and grocery online. So now almost many business enthusiastic starting online grocery business to attract more customers. Here we are going to focus on the advantages and disadvantages of online grocery (supermarket) business.

Advantages (Pros) of Online Grocery Business:

Home Delivery: The main reason behind people preferring online shopping is home or door step delivery. Sometimes, for some products it is very difficult to find those products nearby our place. So we will start ordering those products and besides those we will continue ordering all our requirements. It is just a click away, so people will prefer more.

You can avoid unwanted Purchases: If you went to shop, while buying your requirements, if you or your kids saw some chocolates or biscuits, you will be forced to spent money for them. If you order online you can avoid these type of purchases and you can save money. If is far, you have to spend money for travelling, you can also avoid travelling charges while you prefer online shopping.

Find Everything: Search engines like Google will make our work easy. If you search with any product name it will display all the websites who are selling that product, so you can visit those sites and you can order wherever you will get for fewer prices. So you will get everything from online.

Price Checking and Shopping Online Can be Cheaper: Websites such as Money Supermarket compared prices of items against all the big major supermarkets helping customers to find the best place to shop; deals and other promotions are also shown so you never miss you on a bargain!

For Companies:

  • Even the grocers and companies will be benefited through because their online stores will be open on 24X7.
  • They can show a wide range of goods on a single portal or multiple portals.
  • They can provide to a large number of customers which is not likely in a physical store because of space limitation as well as time.

 

Disadvantages (Cons) of Online Grocery Business:

For Customers:

Sometimes You Can’t Get What you desire: Sometimes companies or will notify or display that the product is out of stock. Most of the companies will try to substitute even after you ordered. Maximum companies are annoying to keep wish list and to notify when the product is available.

You can’t personally look items: If you go for a shop you can go check your products and you will feel the quality and freshness of the products, but through online that is not possible.

Delivery Charges: Few companies or portals not encouraging free delivery and they are charging delivery charges between 40 to 150. Customers feeling this are bad.

For Companies:

  • While in a physical store, you can very easily attain the trust of your customers for that personal touch and you end up having regular customers, this may not be the case in an online store. It is very difficult for a dissatisfied customer to persuade him/her once gain to visit your site.
  • Maintenance of an online site is also not so easy. On an online store, as a manufacturer or as a grocer, you must always be on your toes 24X7 to make sure that your site is functioning well, there are no technical fall-outs plus you have to make an extra effort to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.
